The koru (Māori for ‘”loop or coil”‘) is a spiral shape based on the appearance of a new unfurling silver fern frond. It is an integral symbol in Māori art, carving, where it symbolises new life, growth, strength, and peace.
Paua (pronounced “pah-wah”) shells are known for their beauty and Maori have valued them for centuries as taonga (treasure). Māori believe the Paua will bring connectivity and harmony to relationships and it makes a beautiful gift.

Rimu is found only in New Zealand and is a highly sought after decorative timber featuring a rich colour and attractive grain.
The Rimu heartwood is very durable, being resistant to rot and insect attack.
Rimu usually grows to a height of 20 – 35 meters (65-115 ft). It is generally 1 – 1.5 meters (3 – 5 ft) in diameter at its base and is easily recognisable by its weeping foliage.
Rimu is sourced from environmentally and sustainably managed forests in both North and South Islands.
All available supplies of Rimu in New Zealand are required to be managed to exacting standards under detailed long term Sustainable Management Plans.
This guarantees availability of a sustainable supply for future generations.
Wood is a living fibre , to care for it we suggest the following treatment:
Oil occasionally with soya bean/ vegetable oil, to retain the timbers natural beauty.
To clean, wipe with a damp cloth or rinse in warm water, dry with a soft cloth then re-oil.
Never soak wooden objects in water or expose to strong sunlight for long periods.
